Evernote & Ministry Work
2012
Evernote:
Almost two years ago I began using a piece of software called Evernote. Evernote has greatly benefited me in the work of the LORD. The purpose of this post is that it may be a help to others in ministry who use computers and/or mobile devices on a regular basis. So you understand the perspective from which this comes, here are the devices that I currently use: Macbook Pro, iPad, & iPhone.
Here are some specific areas where Evernote has been a help to me:
- Personal Bible Study
- Ministry-wide Organization
- Continuing Education
- Personal Reading Ledger
Evernote is an application that allows you to capture everything in one place. The application allows the information to be synced to multiple devices, making the information available wherever you may be via internet, laptop, or mobile device.
Notebooks:
Evernote allows you to create notebooks [see screenshot #1] which allow you to organize or compartmentalize the different aspects of what you are involved in on a daily basis.
You also have the capability to “stack” notebooks. In other words, you may have several notebooks are technically different but they are similar in nature. For example, you may have a notebook stack entitled “Ministries.” Under that you may have actual notebooks that are various different ministries [see screen shot #2].
Within each notebook is where I store all my notes, emails, screenshots, photos, and much more for any meetings associated with that notebook [see screen shot #3]. I realize that sounds like a lot, but one of the great features of Evernote is the ease with which data can be added to the notebooks. Some updates actually take place automatically. More on that in a later post.
I will take some additional posts to show some screen shots on how this has been a great help to me. Hopefully, you will find it a benefit to you as well. Much, much more to come.
