Remembrance

 

II Peter 1:13 – 15 & 3:1

“Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.”

We must continually be reminded of Biblical truths in our life. We must continually remind those whom we mentor as well:

The finality of time on earth is in view.

Memory is one of the great abilities that God has given to us. As people we work to keep ourselves reminded of experiences that we enjoyed. We try to forget experiences that we did not enjoy, and we attempt to learn from experiences that were difficult.

As mentors, we must be honest and consider what is most important that the student remembers? What are the top three things that you want your student to remember, supposing that this were your last month upon this earth?

Something About Me

Dr. Maximino Fernandez was saved July 24, 1994 in Columbus, Georgia under the preaching of his youth pastor, Chris Hanks. After graduating high school, he attended the Crown College for one year where he met his future wife, Catrina. In September of 2000, Dr. Fernandez moved to Middletown, Ohio and became active in the youth ministries at Grace Baptist Church. During this time he finished his Bible diploma at the Grace Baptist Bible Institute, his bachelor’s degree in Theology at Slidell Baptist Seminary, and his graduate work through Crown College. In 2004, Dr. Fernandez was asked to lead the youth. In 2008, Pastor Green asked Bro. Fernandez to assume the Associate Pastor role in addition to the youth pastorate. He is still serving in the same capacity. He and his wife Catrina have two children: Josiah (09/20/05) and Joanna (04/15/08).
