A Good New Year’s Resolution
Today’s Proverb:
Proverbs 1:5 says, “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels.” Proverbs is great for continually reminding us to be teachable. Over and over again, we are exhorted to hear and to listen. If there is one thing we should all add to the top of our resolution list this year, it is to learn to be teachable. Here are some thoughts:
1. It is a wise man who hears.
2. When we hear, we increase. There is benefit to us when we do this.
3. Hearing leads to learning. There is an underlying assumption seen here. The wise man does not think that he knows everything, hence he hears.
