Who is close-minded? (hypocrisy)
The cry of our postmodern society is that there are no absolutes. Unfortunately, that very statement is self-defeating. How can you absolutely say there are not absolutes? God’s Word is truth (John 17:17). God’s Word is ABSOLUTE Truth!
I start by saying this because, there is a statement that is commonly made. It is the statement, “You are close-minded.” Generally, what happens is someone stands for what the Bible teaches, or they simply stand for a personal conviction that they have. Along comes someone who disagrees with the position of that individual; and he or she flippantly makes the statement that labels the individual [taking the stand] as “close-minded.”
1. This statement/accusation is self-defeating. When this accusation is made, the individual is saying [in so many words], “I don’t like your opinion or thought because it does not tolerate what I believe.” Please, please, please use your common sense here. Let me summarize what the accuser is saying in more understandable terms, “I don’t tolerate you or your opinion because you do not tolerate what I like; so you are intolerant!” Wow! What a mess! The accuser is actually accusing someone of something that he himself is doing – namely, being intolerant.
2. This statement displays hypocrisy. To call someone else close-minded is to be close-minded to them.
3. The real problem is that the individual [making the close-minded accusation] does not have a solid, foundational, and truthful beginning point. Their premise tends to be, “If I don’t know anything specifically morally wrong with it, it’s ok.” A Biblicists should begin with God and His Word. Rather than having the “everything goes” mindset, he or she should study the Word of God and know why they believe what they believe.
Hey! Wake up! Stand for Truth! If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything!

This is a blog to edify [build up] and equip the saints. I pray it will be a blessing to you.
